Gellibrand is a good place to base yourself to explore the
The rural township of Gellibrand offers a great alternative to the crowds we normally associate with a sea-side resort town, yet is only a short drive to the Great Ocean Road and its fabulous beaches. Only 20 minutes to the Otway Fly ( the world’s longest and highest rainfoest canopy walk ) and a 30 minute drive to Turtons Track Tourist Drive ( Turtons Track is a must see if you want to see massive Mountain Ash Eucalypts! ) and some of the most awesome waterfalls and scenic drives in the Otways. Located on the banks of the Gellibrand River, this small, country town offers a quiet and relaxed stay where you can do as little or as much as you desire – after all you are on holidays. If you like fishing you’re going to love Gellibrand. This river often sees some very sizeable Blackfish and Brown Trout. If you are a hiker, Gelli will also suit as it is midway on the Old Beechy Rail Trail. This trail is also suitable for mountain bikes. The Gellibrand River General Store is known for its great home made food and right next door is the newly openened Gellibrand River Art Gallery where you can pick up some great local arts and crafts. Gelli is also the main base for anyone who wants to do some motorbike riding or Four Wheel driving. It can get very muddy in the winter!
