Please find a few options below for accessible accommodation along
The Great Ocean Road
Many accommodation providers along the Great Ocean Road have introduced features designed to support guests with mobility, sensory or other accessibility needs. These may include step-free entrances, wheelchair-accessible parking spaces, wider doorways, accessible bathrooms with grab rails, roll-in showers and rooms located on the ground floor. Some properties such as The Boomerangs at Johanna also offer ramps. Lift access, and adjustable bedding to improve comfort and convenience may also be found in limited properties.
Popular towns such as Torquay Lorne, Apollo Bay & Port Campbell provide a range of accommodation options, including hotels, motels, holiday parks, apartments and cottages. Many operators recognise the importance of accessibility and provide detailed information about their facilities to help travellers determine whether a property meets their specific requirements.
When planning a trip, it is advisable for travellers to contact accommodation providers directly to confirm accessibility features. Accessibility needs vary significantly and information available online may not always reflect the current situation. Asking about bathroom layouts, doorway widths, parking access and any available support services can help prevent difficulties during the stay.
Accessible accommodation benefits not only people with disabilities but also older travellers, families with prams and anyone who may require easier access. As awareness of inclusive tourism continues to grow, more businesses along the Great Ocean Road are investing in accessible facilities and services. This helps create a welcoming environment where a wider range of visitors can experience the natural beauty and unique attractions of this iconic Victorian destination.
