Great Ocean Road
If you want to brush up on your surf culture then you need to head to Torquay, the home of Bells Beach and birthplace of international brands such as Rip Curl and Quicksilver. The official start point of the Great Ocean Road, Torquay is Victoria’s surfing and beach goers capital. If you have the time you should spend a few days here. Having a good look around the surf shops and the surfing museum will take a few days! Then there is the numerous beaches surrounding this coastal village. Of course you must visit Bells Beach and if you’re lucky you will see it with a huge swell running. Easter is your best chance to see massive waves. This is the time of the Easter Surfing world championships. There’s loads of accommodation in and around Torquay but during peak season make sure you book early.
